Program Support Coordinator (PSC)
Provides administrative support for the School of Behavioral Sciences, supervising various supervisors depending on the department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Process applications to the BSSW and MSW programs and facilitate the gatekeeping process.
- Engage students in self‑assessment to ensure fit for program and profession.
- Develop and maintain admissions, gatekeeping, and tracking systems.
- Assist applicants, participate in student interviews to determine readiness, and advise students throughout program.
- Support program through data tracking and analysis.
- Assist the Chair, Program Director, and Director of Field Education with programmatic and accreditation matters.
- Communicate with other teams within the department and other university departments to facilitate collaboration.
- Maintain excellent interpersonal skills and professional, clear communication in oral and written correspondence with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
- Handle multiple projects independently and as part of a team.
- Minimum:
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of administrative experience. - Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent interpersonal and interviewing skills.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree and 2+ years of administrative experience.
- Experience in the social work or human services profession.
- Customer service experience.
- Interviewing experience.
- Effective verbal and written communication in English.
- Public communication skills representing the university to diverse stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Problem‑solving ability.
- Occasional travel to local and campus locations.
- Regular sitting at desk, typing, speaking, hearing.
- Occasional standing, walking, climbing stairs; ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
The working environment is a climate‑controlled office setting, well lit, with moderate noise levels.
DRIVING REQUIREMENTSUse of personal vehicle (or university vehicles) for local travel. Valid Virginia driver’s license required.
