CAS Administrative Assistant PT

Providing secretarial, administrative, and scheduling support for a department in the College of Arts and Sciences, as assigned by the Chair. Monitor budget, supervise student workers, order supplies, and other clerical tasks. Plan and coordinate department events and update department social media pages. Other administrative and secretarial tasks as needed. Support College of Arts and Sciences initiatives.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

The role of the CAS Administrative Assistant PT may include any number of the following general responsibilities:

1. Provide faculty and staff support to departments within the College of Arts and Sciences.

2. Plan, execute, and coordinate all department events, meetings, and recruitment opportunities such as CFAW, Experience LU, and other student engagement occasions.

3. Understand the basics of operational budget, P-Card policy, and how to arrange travel.

4. Remain abreast of existing and new technologies provided by the university in the areas of budget, website/social media, marketing, and human resources.

5. Assist with website and marketing. Monitor departmental inbox daily. Facilitate scheduling of Department meetings as needed. Take minutes for business meetings.

6. Strictly adhere to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.

7. Work effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering Liberty University's mission.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Schedule and supervise the student workers in the department as they assist with social media posting, department events, and other tasks as assigned.
  • Delegate weekly tasks and provide clear instructions (written and verbal) detailing assigned tasks and expectations.
  • Approve student worker hours in the Workday system on a weekly basis.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Computer experience required, with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, well-organized, and desire to work with students.
  • Well-developed communication skills are essential.
  • Self-starter; works well without direct supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree, with experience in a high-volume office setting.
Abilities and Competencies Essential to the Function of the Job Communication and Comprehension
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well articulated information.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
  • Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University to a variety of business, government and community customers and associates.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Computer and scheduling skills.

  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
Physical and Sensory Abilities
  • Required to travel to local and campus locations.
  • May be required to sit to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
  • Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the campus.
  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.
  • Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.
Working Conditions

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled setting. It is well-lit and the noise level is moderate. Working environment also includes facilitation of events outdoors occasionally.

Driving Requirements

Use of one's personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position. Proof of a valid Virginia driver's license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required to be an approved driver, as needed.

Pay Range

Compensation is determined based on factors such as qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, along with University needs and external market conditions. Market benchmarks may be used, as appropriate, in combination with internal equity to ensure pay is fair and aligned with the broader compensation structure.

The position may also be eligible for comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and tuition assistance.

$15.38 - $18.27
