Position OverviewThis internship focuses on supporting day-to-day procurement operations by maintaining purchase orders, coordinating with suppliers and internal teams, managing documentation, and analyzing data in SAP to monitor cost, schedule, and quality performance. In addition, the intern will lead small process‑improvement projects, troubleshot procurement challenges, and help map and evaluate business workflows to drive greater efficiency and clarity in reporting.
Location:On‑site in Lynchburg, VA Your Day To Day As a Supply Chain Intern
- Perform purchase order follow‑up and maintenance to support Buyer activities.
- Verify accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of documents tied to deliverables, monitoring performance against cost, schedule, and quality goals.
- Maintain and organize procurement documentation.
- Communicate subcontract status and key updates to appropriate stakeholders.
- Support daily procurement operations by coordinating with internal teams and external suppliers to resolve issues and ensure plant material needs are met.
- Gather, analyze, and report data using SAP and other business systems.
- Troubleshoot procurement challenges and build knowledge of relevant policies.
- Manage small projects aimed at improving procurement processes.
- Assist in mapping and evaluating current business processes, identifying efficiency improvements, and tracking key metrics for management reporting.
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain, Logistics, Math/Statistics, Information Systems, and relevant technical majors such as Engineering.
- Ability to integrate business acumen with technical skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong PC skills in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Working knowledge of AI tools including Copilot and/or ChatGPT.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Rising junior and senior candidates preferred.
