Graphic Designer
Position requires a creative and innovative graphic designer towork with and support the internal departments and marketing needsof the university. This position works closely with the full-timeteam of graphic designers, promotional writer(s) and project coordinator(s), with oversight from their Marketing Manager toensure that the branding and marketing is integrated within thegoals for the clients they serve. Student Designer must be proficient in Adobe creative suite and have experience and basicunderstand in all facets of design, including typography, colortheory, and principles and elements of design.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Uses knowledge of current graphic design software within Adobe Creative Suite to produce graphic art and visual material for publications such as internal printed publications, recruiting materials, flyers, posters, brochures, direct mail, digitaladvertisements and other projects that may arise.
- Shadow, meet with and receive constructive feedback fromfull-time designer, Creative Director, and Marketing Manager tofurther hone their skillset and understanding of university brandand design best practices.
- Assist with edits, updates and tweaks needed to previouslycreated designs.
- Must remain abreast of technological advances in the field andbe able to identify areas of use in the organization and keepfamiliar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Responsible for maintaining the look and feel of allpublications in a consistent manner and adhering to existing brand identity guidelines.
- Demonstrates basic understanding and usage of typography, colortheory, and principles and elements of design in all createdpieces.
- Must be detail-oriented, ability to work well under pressure,prioritize projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced working environment.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in ateam setting.
- Build and maintain knowledge of printing specifications(bleeds, CMYK, packaging files, etc.), paper selection andpaperweights, and a variety of finishes (UV inks, foils, embossing,etc.).
- Work on several projects at once, sometimes under pressure andoften tight deadlines.
- Consistently demonstrates integrity and ethical behaviorcongruent with Christian values in all transactions and relationships. Adheres to the regulatory and legal environment ofhigher education.
Is openly accountable for actions, decisions, and outcomes. Contributes to sustained profitability by establishing realistic goals and effectively managing resources. A commitment to Christian ideals, philosophy, and direction of the University asstated through its mission and vision, integrating faith into hisor her discipline.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALSEducation and Experience
- This position requires an applicant pursuing a degree(B.A./B.S.) in Graphic Design, Art, Communications, or related field.
- Approximately one - two years of related experience preferred,or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be able to understand and follow directions, and workunder limited supervision.
- Must be able to work well with clients and co-workers and present a positive attitude. Clean and professional appearance.
Communication and Comprehension
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writingto convey clear, well-articulated information.
- Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order toconvey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
- Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University to a variety of business and community customers and associates.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Regularly interact with internal print shop and promotionalvendors in the submission of native art files for printing and production of materials for university departments.
- Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, andapply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.

Pay RateStarting at $12.77
Student employees are paid at least the current Virginia minimum wage per hour. Pay may vary by position and department based on job responsibilities, required skills, available funding, and market conditions.
