Overview
Adjuncts are essential to Liberty University’s mission of Training Champions for Christ. It is expected that an adjunct member models a personal commitment to the goals and values of Liberty University, engages in an active commitment to, and experiences personal spiritual formation within a biblically informed Christian worldview. Adjuncts should view their teaching, engagement with students, and scholarship as a means to a significant educational end.
They should strive to employ a variety of techniques for the development of good learning conditions, view each student as a unique individual, and insofar as possible, provide for individual differences, abilities, and interests.
Liberty University is seeking remarkable faculty to teach residential Engineering coursework across Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, and Industrial & Systems disciplines. Work with us and be part of preparing students to successfully lead with integrity. Classes are available at the undergraduate and graduate levels. For every level of degree program, there are a wide variety of courses that may fit your academic and professional experiences. Multiple positions are available. Classes are offered in a residential 16‑week format. Class assignments are done in coordination with the faculty member, with no minimum number of class assignments required.
- Model a personal commitment to the goals and values of Liberty University, engage in an active commitment to, and experience of, personal spiritual formation within a biblically-informed Christian worldview.
- Teach from the approved curriculum in accordance with an assigned schedule to ensure student satisfaction.
- Assist students in achieving completion of objectives and learning outcomes.
- Provide regular and timely feedback to students.
- Participate in school retention initiatives by maintaining productive conduct with students and by getting in touch with and offering assistance to absent students.
- Advise students in matters related to academics, attendance, and behaviors.
- Motivate students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational process.
- Strictly adhere to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.
- Work effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s Christian model and Mission – Training Champions for Christ.
- Perform other duties assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Earned a graduate degree or doctorate in an Engineering discipline such as Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Industrial & Systems.
- To teach at the baccalaureate or Master’s level, possess a Master’s degree in the related discipline with desired experience.
- To teach at the Doctoral level, possess a Doctorate in the related discipline with desired experience.
- Relevant certifications are a definite plus.
- 3–5 years teaching experience either in a classroom or online or a combination of both.
- Minimum of 3–5 years applied experience in a related field.
- Communication and Comprehension:
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well‑articulated information. - Understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
- Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Computer skills and scheduling skills.
- Problem Solving:
Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
- May be required to travel.
- May be required to sit to perform desk work or type on a keyboard.
- Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
