Instructional Assistant - Special Education

Works collaboratively with special education and classroom teachers, as well as other professionals, to support the academic and social/emotional growth of students, including IEP goals, objectives, and/or accommodations.

Essential functions include:

• Working with individual or small groups of students to reinforce learning objectives and standards.
• Assisting with small group learning activities.
• Providing instructional support during online learning.
• Assisting with the development of students' social/emotional skills.
• Supporting students in learning classroom/school routines and procedures.
• Providing supervision and a safe environment for students during structured and unstructured times such as lunch, recess, transitions, loading/unloading of buses and any other assigned duties.
• Maintaining a positive, professional, solution-focused demeanor at all times.
• Maintaining confidentiality.
• Willingness to substitute or perform duties as requested.

Education and experience:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of sixty (60) credit hours from an accredited post-secondary institution or career technical facility; or an Associate's Degree; or completed the Para Pro assessment.
• Some experience in working with children.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

• This position requires periods of standing; some walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling—ability to lift 25 lbs.
