Job Summary
Working independently, exercising good judgment and discretion in executing and performing the Club Sports Summer Camp duties. Assisting students with questions, supervising campers, ensuring their safety, travel, punctuality, development, growth, and general well‑being through patience, kindness, enthusiasm, problem‑solving skills, and efficient communication.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Assigned a group of campers to lead, mentor, and oversee.
- Act as a residential counselor responsible for the group for the entirety of the camp.
- Lead groups to and from the lacrosse facility, dorms, dining hall, and various activities; ensure each camper is in their assigned room each night at curfew; lead devotions for the group each morning; assist with practices and organize activities during designated times.
- Track attendance of day campers and be responsible for the campers of the group at all times.
- Ensure campers act appropriately and follow the rules outlined by the camp directors.
- High school diploma required.
- Safe Sport Certified required.
- Previous experience as a summer camp counselor preferred.
- Well‑developed verbal communication skills.
- Ability to be punctual and follow a schedule set by the director.

Strong organizational skills; excellent computer skills. - Problem Solving
Analyze information and events, apply judgment to solve routine and complex problems. - Physical and Sensory Abilities
Travel to local and campus locations; hear and speak; stand, walk, climb stairs; handle materials; lift up to 20 pounds.
The working environment is climate‑controlled and outdoors in heat; well lit and moderate noise indoors; all weather types when outside.
Driving RequirementsPersonal vehicle (or LU vehicle) may be required for travel. Valid driver’s license, acceptable DMV record, LU Driving Approval, and liability insurance are required.
Employment TypePart‑time, Onsite, Summer Temporary. Pay starting at $12.77, at least the current Virginia minimum wage. Pay may vary by position, department, responsibilities, skills, available funding, and market conditions.
