Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district s curriculum program with written evidence of preparation.
- Prepare lessons reflecting accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
- Present subject matter according to Lynchburg City Schools guidelines, board policies, and administrative regulations.
- Plan and use instructional strategies, activities, materials, and equipment aligned to students learning styles and needs.
- Assess student learning styles and use results to plan instruction.
- Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula for students with IEPs, as appropriate.
- Work with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
- Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides and volunteers.
- Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
- Support Student Growth and Development: help students analyze and improve study methods and habits; conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement; sponsor appropriate extracurricular activities as assigned; be a positive role model and support the district s mission.
- Classroom Management: create a learning-conducive environment, manage behavior per the Student Code of Conduct, protect students and materials, and assist in selecting instructional materials.
- Communication: establish open communication with parents, students, principals, and teachers; maintain professional relationships with colleagues and community members; communicate information clearly and accurately.
- Professional Growth: participate in staff development; stay informed of regulations and policies; maintain and file reports; attend faculty meetings and participate in committees; maintain confidentiality; perform other duties as assigned.
- Candidate must possess or be eligible for a Virginia Teaching License with an endorsement in elementary education.
