Our Early Head Start program is experiencing exciting growth as we expand services to support more children and families in our community. As a result of this expansion, we are hiring 10 new teachers to staff additional classrooms and ensure we continue delivering high-quality, nurturing early learning experiences.

Position Title: Early Head Start Teacher

Location: Lynchburg

Summary: Join a supportive Early Head Start team where you can make a meaningful impact in the lives of infants, toddlers, and their families. As an EHS Teacher, you’ll work alongside a co‑teacher to create a safe, engaging, and nurturing classroom that supports each child’s growth and development. This role blends hands‑on teaching with relationship‑building—partnering with families, planning fun and purposeful activities, and helping children build a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

Success In This Role Looks Like
  • Creating a warm, structured classroom where children feel safe, supported, and ready to learn
  • Planning engaging, developmentally appropriate activities that support each child’s growth
  • Working closely with your teaching team and program staff to support every child’s success
  • Building positive relationships with families through regular communication, home visits, and conferences
  • Using observations and assessments to guide learning and identify opportunities for support
  • Maintaining a well‑organized classroom that meets program and licensing standards

What You Bring To The Team
  • Passion for working with young children and supporting families
  • Ability to build strong, professional relationships with children, families, and team members
  • Strong organization skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Comfort in a fast‑paced, active environment (including lifting, bending, indoor/outdoor play)
  • Willingness to travel locally a few times per year for home visits and training
  • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn program systems
Requirements for Consideration
  • Experience working with children.
  • A minimum of a Child Development Associate (CDA) or comparable credential with a focus on infant and toddler development. Or a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or related field.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Must pass and maintain all required background checks.
