Residential Adjunct- Student Teaching Supervisor for School of Education

Adjuncts are essential to Liberty University’s mission of Training Champions for Christ. It is expected that an adjunct member models a personal commitment to the goals and values of Liberty University, engage in an active commitment to, and experience of, personal spiritual formation within a biblically informed

Christian worldview. Adjuncts should view their teaching,engagement with students, and scholarship as a means to asignificant educational end. They should strive to employ avariety of techniques for the development of good learning conditions, view each student as a unique individual, and insofaras it is possible, provide for individual differences,abilities, and interests.

The typical responsibilities for this opportunity include the following:

• Teach course content in person. When supervising local (CentralVA) student teachers, visits and formal observations must be inperson on site in the local school systems.
• Plan and implement instruction that is effective for student engagement, understanding, and retention
• Effective use of software, university, and classroom resources to promote active learning experiences
• Weekly communication with the students
• Adhere to LU’s communication policy (respond to student’s email within 36 hours)
• Maintain the course LMS content and assignment updates asneeded (and aligned with Course lead and Department Chair guidance and approval)
• Demonstrate activity and engagement in the course LMS andadhere to LU’s grading policy (within 5 days)
• Maintain communication with the Faculty Support Coordinator, the Department Chair, and the Associate Dean
• Reflect on teaching effectiveness by reviewing course evaluations and completing portfolio requirements
• And other duties as assigned.

• Current state teaching license
• Master’s degree or higher
• Minimum of three years of classroom teaching experience in theK-12 school setting
• Full doctrinal compatibility with Liberty University
• Degree must be from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
• Superior interpersonal, customer service, presentation, and communication skills required.
• Creative, innovative, and problem-solving skills required.
• Proven organizational skills and ability to complete assignments timely and accurately with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency in MS Office, Canvas, and the Internet.
• Able to obtain and maintain licenses if applicable as required by state or accrediting commissions.
• Demonstrated strengths in teaching at the college level is essential.

• Regularly required to hear and speak in order to communicate orally in an effective manner.
• Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to moveabout the building.
• Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order toconduct business.
• Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled office setting. It is well lighted, and the noise level is moderate.
