Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist - Lynchburg, VA
Liri Care is hiring a full-time Orientation and Mobility Specialist to support students with visual impairments in a school district in Lynchburg, Virginia. You'll provide individualized instruction that helps students travel safely and independently within their schools, homes, and communities. The role includes direct student services, assessments, IEP development, progress monitoring, and collaboration with families, teachers, and other members of the special education team.

Compensation & Benefits:
- $60–$70 per hour on W-2, based on experience and credentials
- Up to $85 per hour on a 1099 contract

What You'll Do:
- Conduct orientation and mobility assessments for students with visual impairments
- Develop individualized O&M goals and instructional plans
- Provide direct instruction in safe travel, navigation, cane skills, sensory awareness, and environmental concepts
- Teach students to navigate school campuses and community environments safely and independently
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute assessments, goals, recommendations, and progress updates
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation
- Collaborate with teachers, families, administrators, vision specialists, therapists, and other members of the educational team
- Provide consultation and training to school staff and families when needed
- Travel between school sites within the district, where required
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Orientation and Mobility, Special Education, Vision Studies, or a related field
- Current Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist credential through ACVREP
- Eligibility to provide school-based O&M services in Virginia
- Experience working with children or students with visual impairments preferred
- Understanding of IEPs and school-based special education services
- Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation
- Ability to complete all district-required background checks and onboarding requirements
