Job Summary
Technical Studies Adjunct Instructor is a part‑time position. The instructor will engage students with classroom and lab instruction using the NCCER curriculum. Lab activities must be per curriculum requirements, but most importantly, hands‑on activities need to prepare students for a career in the electrical field. This position requires in‑person work at an off‑campus instructional site in Altavista, VA. Instructors must maintain communication with students.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Classroom instruction/management
- Lab instruction/management
- Perform and supervise trade‑related work
- Maintain a safe working environment
- Work with classroom‑related technology (Canvas, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, …)
- Strictly adhere to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.
- Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s Christian model and Mission – Training Champions for Christ.
Supervises lab assistants, where applicable.
Qualifications and CredentialsThe Technical Studies Instructor must have a minimum of four years of field experience and possess a journeyman's electrical license. Resume must demonstrate this experience with both residential and commercial work. Industry‑recognized licenses or certifications are required. A college degree is preferred.
Abilities and CompetenciesCommunication and Comprehension
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Proficient in English for clear, professional correspondence. Public communication skills to represent Liberty University. Strong organizational and computer skills.
Problem Solving
Intuitively reason, analyze information, and apply judgment to solve routine and complex problems.
May be required to travel, sit, perform deskwork, type, hear and speak, stand, walk, climb stairs, handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop, lift ≤10lbs normally, lift up to 50lbs when required.
Working ConditionsWork setting similar to fieldwork: uncontrolled climates, loud areas, hazardous conditions.
LocationAltavista, VA (off‑campus instructional site). Part‑time.
