Supervisor of Alternative Education Date:08/20/2026 POSITION SUMMARY
This position will be supervised by the Department of Student Services and will be responsible for providing instructional services to students who are placed at the Restorative Academy. The Restorative Academy is a program for students who need behavioral and/or mental health support in order to build skills that will allow them to be successful at their base school. This teacher will provide students in small class settings (approximately 10 students) direct instructional support.
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
- Demonstrates willingness to work with teachers to help students complete work assigned to them
- Employ special educational strategies and techniques during instruction to improve the development of sensory and perceptual motor skills, language, cognition, and memory.
- Teach socially acceptable behavior, as determined by the student’s individualized education plan (IEP) by employing techniques in an overall positive behavioral support system.
- Modify the general education curriculum for students with disabilities based on a variety of instructional techniques and technologies.
- Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
- Demonstrates knowledge of appropriate instructional strategies for secondary school students
- Monitors student progress and collects behavior data.
- Collaborates with base school teachers to ensure that students maintain academic progress to support transition back to their base school.
- Plans for individual student differences.
- Works to achieve division/school/department objectives.

- Utilizes various forms of technology to assist in the delivery of instruction.
