Performs as an Automotive Technology Instructor in a high school classroom and shop setting presenting instruction in automotive technology repair functions. Promotes a positive atmosphere within the classroom and shop setting conducive to optimal training, learning, and motivation. The primary responsibility of every teacher is to develop, implement, and maintain a competency-aligned educational program that will teach each student the technical skills and knowledge of their program area, as well as the 21st Century Workplace Readiness Skills for the Commonwealth of Virginia.
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
- Instructs students on care of automobile tools, their purpose and proper use.
- Instructs students on shop safety.
- Instructs students to perform major and minor automotive technology repair.
- Establishes and maintains a working relationship with auto industry to ensure training relevant.
- Secures instructional aids and materials as available.
- Demonstrates long-range planning and knowledge of the student area.
- Completes daily written lesson plans which fulfill learning objectives consistent with LCS' curricula and SOLs.
- Plans for individual student differences.
- Works to achieve division/school/department objectives.
- Utilizes a variety of teaching methods.
- Communicates objective(s) and purpose(s) of lesson.
- Utilizes various forms of technology to assist in the delivery of instruction.
- Provides opportunities for student responses and gives appropriate feedback to students.
- Utilizes effective motivational strategies.
- Paces instruction to provide opportunities for student success.
- Delivers curriculum and instruction in accordance with school division guidelines.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Basic knowledge of different computer-based instructional software
