Position Overview
Senior Electrical Controls Systems Engineer – Lynchburg, VA. This role focuses on designing, programming, testing, and optimizing advanced control systems for critical manufacturing operations in a highly regulated environment.
LocationOn‑site in Lynchburg, Virginia. Relocation assistance is available.
What You’ll Do- Develop PLC programs for complex industrial control systems (Rockwell/Allen Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, etc.).
- Create and review system design documents, including design and functional specifications.
- Develop and execute test plans, commissioning activities, and motion‑based control systems.
- Perform and document thorough control system testing.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues and implement effective solutions.
- Analyze production processes to identify opportunities for optimization and performance improvement.
- Develop, maintain, and peer‑review electrical and control schematics for new and existing equipment.
- Specify and procure instrumentation, controls, and related equipment for upgrades and new installations.
- Ensure adherence to internal standards, engineering procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Apply electrical theory to design or modify facility power and control distribution systems supporting NOG‑L operations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology and at least 4 years of relevant experience. Other technical degrees may be considered if engineering/technical content is demonstrated.
- Proficiency in PLC, HMI, and controls programming (preferably Rockwell/Allen Bradley, Siemens, or Mitsubishi).
- Experience with motion‑based programming;
Rockwell/Allen Bradley preferred. - Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 79, and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Proven ability to work independently, solve complex problems, and recommend best‑practice solutions.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) “L” clearance.

Pay: $86,000 – $136,000 per year.
The base salary range for this position in Virginia (US‑VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $86,000 and $136,000 per year. The base salary offered may vary based on factors such as job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. The total compensation package may also include additional elements such as an annual cash incentive and a full range of medical, retirement, or other benefits.
