On-site in Lynchburg, Virginia

Your Day to Day as a Senior Nuclear Criticality Safety Engineer
  • The successful candidate will perform Nuclear Criticality Safety (NCS) evaluations to define the safety basis for operation of new or changing facilities, equipment, or processes involving uranium bearing materials.
  • They will execute computer models to evaluate normal operations and process upsets relative to NRC License limits and requirements.
  • They will be responsible for evaluating accident sequences and designating Items Relied on For Safety to prevent a criticality accident from occurring.
  • The individual will also perform routine surveillance, inspections, and audits of areas where licensed material is used or stored to ensure compliance with NRC License requirements.
  • They will provide operational areas with specific NCS input and oversight as necessary.
Required Qualifications
  • B.S. or MS degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum five (5) years of NCS experience, preferably in an NRC licensed fuel cycle facility.
  • A working knowledge of SCALE/KENO.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Nuclear Engineering degree is preferred.
  • Familiarity with 10 CFR part 70 is beneficial.
