LocationOn-site in Lynchburg, Virginia
Your Day to Day as a Met Lab Engineer 2- Provides technical support for lab personnel, lab processes, and lab inspection equipment.
- Provides technical documentation/Metallographic reports to internal and external customers.
- Interprets contract technical requirements and incorporates into area procedures and processes.
- Supports a project team, communicating status of any technical or production issues.
- Develops and implements new or improved inspection techniques.
- Creates and revises procedures, forms, and submittals.
- Creates and submits quotes for future work scopes.
- Maintains and trends relevant manufacturing/inspection data and key product attributes.
- Serves as a subject matter expert in an assigned area of cognizance.
- May be expected to qualify as a Met Lab Examiner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Engineering or Physics is required.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience.
- Must have basic competency with programming.
- Must have experience in understanding, reviewing, and executing contract technical requirements.
- Must demonstrate superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Must have experience providing instructions and guidance to hourly workforce.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is required.
- Must be highly self-motivated and directed with keen attention to detail in order to successfully multi-task.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
- Experience with Lower Tier is preferred.
- Experience in the qualification of new process, product, or equipment preferred.
