Why This Role Is Critical

As the need for nuclear energy grows, the future couldn't be brighter. Join our vital mission to create lasting solutions for our planet's greatest challenges. In this role, you are ready to shape the future of clean energy and make a long-lasting global impact. With us, anticipate engaging and challenging projects that deliver innovative solutions and value-added technologies helping power more than 38 million North American homes.

Unlike traditional design engineering roles focused on creating new products, Component Engineering is centered on understanding, evaluating, repairing, replacing, and improving the specialized equipment that keeps nuclear power plants operating. Every project presents unique technical challenges involving pressure-retaining components, structural assemblies, mechanical systems, and custom-engineered solutions that must meet some of the most rigorous engineering and quality standards in the world.

This role offers an exceptional opportunity to develop expertise in mechanical engineering, ASME Codes, nuclear industry regulations, materials, welding, fabrication, structural analysis, and field implementation while working alongside experienced engineers who support some of the nation's most critical infrastructure. This position offers significant opportunities for technical growth through mentorship, hands‑on project involvement, and exposure to a wide variety of commercial nuclear systems and components.

What Makes This Career Unique

Few engineering disciplines provide the opportunity to solve highly technical, one-of-a-kind problems that directly impact the safe and reliable generation of electricity for millions of people. Every project is different, requiring engineers to think critically, collaborate across multiple disciplines, and develop practical solutions that meet demanding technical and regulatory requirements.

As a Component Engineer, you'll work on projects involving:

  • Large mechanical assemblies
  • Pressure boundary components
  • Custom-engineered repair solutions
  • Heavy rigging and lifting applications
  • Structural modifications
  • Precision fabrication and machining
  • Nuclear plant outage execution
  • Next‑generation reactor technologies, including Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) and Advanced Reactors (ARs)

You'll have the opportunity to learn from experienced engineers, build specialized technical expertise, and contribute to projects that support one of the most highly engineered industries in the world.

What You’ll Learn

As a Component Engineer, you'll gain experience in areas such as:

  • Nuclear component repair and replacement engineering
  • Mechanical design
  • Pressure‑retaining component design
  • Welding processes and weld design
  • Materials engineering and metallurgy
  • ASME Section III, Section VIII, and Section XI Codes
  • Engineering calculations and technical justification
  • CAD design and engineering drawing development
  • Manufacturing methods and fabrication processes
  • Nuclear quality assurance requirements
  • Plant outage execution and field engineering support
  • Root cause analysis and engineering problem solving

Why Join Our Team?

We believe the best engineers are developed through mentorship, challenging projects, and continuous learning. You'll work alongside industry experts with decades of experience while contributing to meaningful projects from day one.

Whether you're interested in mechanical design, structural engineering, materials, field engineering, manufacturing support, or technical leadership, Component Engineering offers a career with exceptional technical depth and long‑term growth opportunities.

What You'll Do Day-To-Day
  • Perform standard engineering assignments typically in areas of design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, preparation of specifications, execution of field tasks, resolution of field problems, and resolution of quality events.
  • Develop awareness of government regulations, organization, industry and customer engineering standards with support of senior staff.
  • Under a mentor’s guidance, evaluate, select and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgement in making minor adaptations and modifications.
  • Support engineering…
