Position Overview:As our Neutronics Analysis Engineer, you will be part of a high-performing, innovative, and multi-disciplinary team that assists with the development of innovative nuclear reactors and related systems. The selected candidate must have a background and knowledge in neutronic calculations, cross section data, simulation tools and an understanding of how to apply neutronics experimental data to the improvement and qualification of analysis methods and tools.
Location:Onsite in Lynchburg, Virginia at the Advanced Technologies Office.
Your Day to Day as a Neutronics Analysis Engineer:- Perform analysis of experimental configurations that can be used to reduce uncertainty and improve analysis tools and methods.
- Coordinate between R&D teams, engineering design and analysis teams, and experimental groups (as applicable).
- Perform work on a broad scope of studies, from experimental planning to data processing, to impacts on reactor designs.
- Work in a neutronics design team contributing to a variety of projects.
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, nuclear or similar discipline) is required.
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in neutronics.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills to write and deliver high quality technical reports and documentation, including presentations to customers, regulators, and other organizations.
- Must be familiar with Monte Carlo tools such as MCNP, OpenMC or Serpent and/or deterministic tools such as SCALE.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required.
- PhD in Nuclear Engineering, Science, or equivalent is preferred.
- Familiarity with Monte Carlo tools such as MCNP, OpenMC or Serpent and/or experience with deterministic nodal methods such as SIMULATE or PARCS.
