Theatre and Dance Student House Manager - Work Assistant

Student worker that will assist in the department in special projects and jobs as needed.

Student worker assists the Theater Manager with front-of-house operations, including pre-show duties, usher supervision, and serving as a primary point of contact for patrons during performances.

• Manage front-of-house operations for all academic performances and second-stage events
• Supervise and train ushers
• Coordinate patron seating, including late seating and accessibility needs
• Address patron concerns and provide excellent customer service
• Communicate with box office, stage management, and production staff
• Enforce theater policies and safety procedures
• Assist with house setup, cleanliness, and presentation

• Theater and/or event management is beneficial
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Ability to handle high-pressure situations with professionalism
• Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and performance schedules

• Communication and Comprehension – Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well articulated information.
• Ability to understand, speak, and write English to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Problem Solving - Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
• Physical and Sensory Abilities – Regularly required to hear and speak to effectively communicate orally. Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building. Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop to conduct business.

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled office setting or theater. It is well lighted and the noise level is moderate.

No driving required. If the employee is required to travel in performing the duties and responsibilities of the position, the use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel. Proof of a valid driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, LU Driving Approval, and liability insurance is required when driving in the performance of the employee’s position.
