Dr. Dunn Magic Show delivers high-energy, family-friendly entertainment for fairs, festivals, churches, cruise ships, corporate events, schools, senior communities, and private gatherings. The show blends clean comedy, magic, illusion, mentalism, and audience participation to engage guests of all ages. Based in Virginia and traveling throughout the Carolinas, New York, and across the country, Dr. Dunn combines military discipline, pastoral care, and seasoned stage presence.

Performances are designed around laughter, wonder, and memorable moments that stay with audiences. The mission is to help people laugh, feel encouraged, and leave feeling better than when they arrived.

Role Description

The Magician Assistant will support Dr. Dunn in delivering smooth, engaging live shows in a variety of venues, including fairs, festivals, churches, corporate events, schools, and private functions. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing props and equipment, assisting with illustrations and mentalism routines, managing backstage logistics, and coordinating timing and cues during each performance. The role also involves helping with audience participation segments, maintaining the performance area, and assisting with basic setup and breakdown before and after events.

This is a full-time, on-site role located in the Greater Lynchburg Area, requiring regular travel to regional and out-of-state events.

Qualifications
  • Performance support skills in magic-related disciplines, including mentalism and illusion.
  • Stage and show experience in live entertainment settings such as cabaret or similar performance environments.
  • Ability to contribute to show atmosphere through music coordination and basic comedic timing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, comfort interacting with diverse audiences, and professionalism in family-friendly settings.
  • Reliable time management, ability to follow detailed cues and directions, and readiness to travel for events.
  • Physical ability to handle props, equipment, and frequent setup and breakdown activities.
  • Prior experience in theater, live events, magic shows, or performance support is preferred but not required.
