The purpose of this job is to provide technical and administrative support for Fire and EMS logistics operations, including procurement coordination, inventory control, equipment accountability, maintenance tracking, and supply distribution.
This position will support the Operations staff by assisting with Fire & EMS related incidents as needed. This is a part‑time position that generally works 24 hours a week. Work schedules may vary based on operational needs, emergency incidents, planned events, training activities, and emergency activations.
This position works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.
- Maintain accurate inventory records for Fire & EMS equipment, supplies, personal protective equipment (PPE), apparatus equipment, and emergency response resources.
- Conduct routine inventory checks to identify low stock items and initiate reordering processes.
- Track equipment usage and condition to ensure proper maintenance and timely replacements.
- Reconcile inventory records and investigate discrepancies.
- Assist with monitoring and forecasting logistics-related expenditures and provide information for budget development.
- Assist with obtaining quotes and coordinating purchases in accordance with County procurement policies.
- Prepare and process purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of goods.
- Track equipment warranties and coordinate repairs in accordance with manufacturer requirements and guidelines.
- Coordinate with maintenance personnel to schedule routine servicing and repairs for fire apparatus and equipment.
- Maintain emergency stockpiles and disaster response resources.
- Assist with Emergency Operations Center logistics support activities during emergency activations.
- Coordinate and deliver equipment and supplies to incident scenes and operational locations as directed.
- Deliver and distribute equipment and supplies to incident scenes as directed.
- Maintain compliance with relevant fire safety regulations and standards regarding equipment and supplies.
- Generate reports on inventory levels, equipment status, and budget expenditures.
- Maintain required certifications and assist with emergency response operations, incident support activities, rehabilitation operations, and resource deployment as directed.
- Utilize inventory management, asset tracking, and records management systems to maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Maintains accountability and security of County-owned equipment, supplies, and emergency response resources.
- Performs related work as required.
Education:
Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent.
Experience:
Two (2) years of experience in logistics, inventory management, warehouse operations, fleet management, emergency services support, public safety logistics, or related field. Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
