Custodian Lead - 2nd Shift

The Custodian (First, Second and Third Shift) is responsible for cleaning and caring for all LU Facilities, on and off campus. The Custodian is to maintain, provide and assure an aestheticallypleasing, clean, sanitary and safe environment in a variety ofspaces including lobbies, hallways, dorms, bathrooms, showers,locker rooms, classrooms, offices, food service areas, and other public event areas.

• Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing of all bathroom facilities,including floors, toilets, walls, partitions, sinks and showers.
  
  Use brooms, mop, buckets, vacuum cleaners and other relatedcleaning equipment.
• Perform daily cleaning of all interior facility spaces, such asoffices, halls, classrooms, labs, food service areas, and common areas.
• Collect trash and recyclable materials from all facilities, for collection, removal and disposal.
• Support and assist with established recycling efforts.
• Report any unsafe conditions or incidents of suspicious activityor persons. As well as any maintenance repair issues to appropriate area supervisor.
• Monitor lobbies, floors, and services restrooms during events;ensuring the highest level of cleanliness, patron satisfaction andevent success.
• As Essential Personnel, A Custodian I is expected to be available in the event of school closings, delays, shutdowns, and any emergencies including clean up required because of severe weatherincidents.
• Attend and complete required safety training per university requirements.
• Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.
• Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’sChristian model and Mission – Training Champions for Christ.

This position requires a high school degree or GED. Minimum of 1+years of related experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. State Driver’s license and insurablewith company’s agent. Well-developed communications skills.

Experience with residential, and/ or commercial/ industrialcleaning (methods and safety) field is preferred. Must be able to understand and follow directions, and work under limited

Supervision. Must be able to work well with the public andco-workers and present a positive attitude, clean and professional appearance. Must be courteous, detailed oriented, self-motivated,and trustworthy. Must be able to lift up to 50+ pounds and perform duties of Custodial cleaning craft.

• Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writingto convey clear, well articulated information.
• Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order toconvey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
• Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University.
