Position: Heat Treat Helper
INTRODUCTIONThe purpose of this task and duty list is to specify the duties of the Heat Treat Helper at East Carolina Metal Treating DBA Virginia Metal Treating.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS The Heat Treat Helper reports directly to the Shift Supervisor or Lead Operator.

The Heat Treat Helper assist lead operator is supervised by a Lead Operator, or Shift SupervisorREQUIREMENTSMust speak English well enough to take instructions from supervisor and communicate with fellow employees and customer’s employees. Must understand enough math to verify quantities and weights and measures. Must be able to read and write English well enough to read and understand road signs, instructions, routes, and other paperwork.

Must be physically capable of picking up and manipulating parts to be worked upon. To sit, bend, and stoop for long periods.

Must be able to present at least three job references.

Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Must be in sound physical condition and able to perform a physically demanding job.

While not required, a valid driver’s license is preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS The work is primarily performed as a machine Helper, with work done in a shop environment. There will be exposure to heat in the summers and cold in the winters, dust, fumes, smoke, and high noise levels at times in the shop.

This role will require sitting, stooping, and bending for long periods of time, and to precisely measure and monitor parts and materials using a variety of instruments and devices.

TASKS AND DUTIES Completes work as assigned by the Shift Supervisor/Lead Man, as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Informs Lead Man, Supervisor or Operator of any equipment problems or needs.

Keep the Shift Supervisor informed as to any potential customer product problems or complaints.

Obeys all safety and company rules and regulations.

Performs cleaning duties upon the premises as required.

Performs general assistance duties to all company personnel as requested.

Prepares material for proper processing.

Forklift operation as needed.

Occasional supervision and training of helpers.

Performs any other duties and tasks as may be assigned from time to time by the Shift Supervisor.

MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE The Heat Treat Helper’s work will be deemed to be acceptable when:

He/she maintains a good working relationship with co-workers.

The Shift Supervisor is satisfied with the quality and quantity of work performed.

The Shift Supervisor has been informed in advance of any absence, late arrival or early departure.

Paperwork and reports are up to date and accurate.

Tardiness and absenteeism is less than 2%.The Shift Supervisor has been kept informed of any potential problems with customers, jobs, or delivery deadlines.
