Looking for a qualified full-time Cook to prepare and serve meals in a secure detention facility. Must be available to work all shifts and on evenings, weekends and holidays. Work is performed in a team environment under the regular supervision of the Food Service Supervisor. Must work well with others. Must be able to cook and prepare meals according to a set menu and to operate various types of kitchen equipment, and responsible for kitchen clean-up.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Prepares and cooks meats, vegetables and other foods in accordance with menu
- Maintains health and sanitary standards
- Strong attention to detail
- Operates standard cooking equipment such as ranges, mixers, food choppers and other kitchen equipment
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure that all orders are prepared and served in a timely manner
- Readies meals for transport and serving in each pod
- Cleans kitchen, equipment, and washes dishes
- Conducts routine inventory count of silverware
- Assists in estimating and ordering food supplies
- Receives and stacks food supplies
- Dates and rotates food on shelves when food is delivered
- Carries out trash, boxes (broken down) and garbage
- Ensure that all equipment is in good working order and report any issues to management
- Other duties to provide direct or indirect service to the citizens may be assigned.
- When unusual situations occur and/or the City Manager declares a State of Emergency, all City employees may be required to accept special assignments and perform as needed to ensure appropriate service delivery.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or general education degree. Experience in cooking foods in large quantities. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Prior to employment must have Criminal Record Check, and reference checks completed, and Child Protective Services check initiated. Prior to onset of employment must have tuberculin and drug screen as part of physical examination.
Must successfully complete IS100 and IS700 National Incident Management (NIMS) training within 90 days of employment. May also be required to complete higher levels of NIMS training as determined appropriate for the position.
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and obtain Serv Safe certification.
