Position Overview

As our Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO), you will assist the Facility Security Officer (FSO) in the development, implementation, and administration of security programs to ensure full compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) requirements through the systematic and disciplined administration of the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) and the Department of Energy (DoE). The security program must meet all physical, information, personnel, and document security requirements as outlined in BWXT Advanced Technologies policies, procedures, and contract government security requirements.

The ideal candidate will provide broad security expertise to the AT business and support the FSO developing programs and processes for (DoD and DoE) classified programs and projects.

Your Day to Day as an Assistant Facility Security Officer
  • Write, review, and evaluate security proposals and plans, such as Operational Security (OPSEC) Plans, Program Protection Plans, DD-254s, and Contract Data Classification Worksheets, focusing on safety and security of personnel, assets, resources, and mission.
  • Support Program/Project Managers and their teams to ensure all aspects of security are properly planned and implemented.
  • Interface with existing security infrastructure across BWXT divisions to implement effective and efficient processes.
  • Support the Information System Security organization to ensure alignment of security processes involving information systems with other areas of the security program.
  • Implement facility security requirements in accordance with NISPOM (32 CFR part 117) and company security policies.
  • Develop and maintain subject matter expert-level knowledge; provide interpretations and recommendations for the implementation of applicable orders, manuals, associated directives, and provide technical assistance to Security Management.
  • Support the Information Protection Program to include maintenance of all classified repositories, open storage locations, restricted/limited areas, document transmittals, and destruction.
