The University of Lynchburg, a private, regional university in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Central Virginia, is seeking applicants for full time Assistant Director position in the office for Accessibility and Disability Resources (ADR) for the University of Lynchburg
This position reports to, is supervised by, and evaluated by the Director for Accessibility and Disability Resources. The evaluation of work performance will be ongoing and will be carried out by the Assistant Director for Accessibility and Disability Resources. It will include the specific duties and responsibilities of this position description plus employee attitude and general working behavior.

Job Purpose:
Responsible for the development, implementation, and coordination of programs and direct services for students with disabilities in compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act of 2008, and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The Assistant Director for Accessibility and Disability Resources (ADR) will manage services for students with disabilities and provide direct student services in compliance with the ADAAA.
The Assistant Director will supervise the Accessibility and Disability Resources Graduate Assistant.
Job Duties:
- Review and evaluate documentation of disability and approve accommodations in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, as amended, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 for academic, housing, dietary and ESA/Service Animal accommodations for students.
- Manage implementation of accommodations and other services for students with disabilities; collaboration with University faculty and staff, as appropriate, in support of students with disabilities; engage in ongoing problem-solving resolution.
- Maintain thorough and confidential records, documentation, data collection, and report preparation for accessibility and disability resource-related needs while adhering to standards of confidentiality and FERPA law.
- Support graduate assistant with test proctoring services for the caseload (undergraduate and graduate).
- Coordinate student accessibility services, including alternative textbooks, assistive technology equipment loans, accessible course materials, etc.
- Provide academic mentoring and midterm outreach for students with disabilities, as appropriate.
- Meet with prospective and incoming students and their families/supporters.
- Coordinate production of Braille, sign language interpreters, and captioned videos for the caseload as needed.
- Provide year-round orientation support.
- Assist with regular oversight of the ADR email account.
- Provide consultation support and resources for campus events with accessibility, including but not limited to Commencement events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Salary: $42,000-$46,000 yearly

- 8:30 am - 5:00 pm (7.5 hours/day with some evenings and weekends to meet needs of the department may be required)
Skills:
- 1-3 years of professional experience working with students, faculty, and staff at the post-secondary level.
- Knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the ADA Amendments Act, as well as other relevant legislation, and their appropriate application in higher education.
- Knowledge of psycho-educational tests and assessments.
- Prolonged standing/setting/wrist movement
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for working with students, parents, and staff. Excellent English-language oral skills for effective communication in individual and large group presentations. Excellent English-language reading comprehension and writing abilities.
- Knowledge of alternative text formats and assistive technologies.
- Experience working with Symplicity Accommodate or other accessibility CRM’s.
- Bachelor's Degree in disability services, psychology, special education, social services, or other closely related fields.
