Our firm has provided engineering services in the northwest Puget Sound for the past 30 years. We’re a small civil engineering firm of about 25 employees located in beautiful Whatcom County – a hub for outdoor activities nestled between the Cascade Mountains and the San Juan Islands. Our office is 12 miles from Bellingham, 100 miles north of Seattle, and 50 miles from Vancouver, Canada.

R&E specializes in municipal design engineering and construction management for local agencies. We focus on building long lasting client relationships and quality products. The Senior CAD Technician / Civil Engineering Technician (CET) is a member of the R&E technical team and works closely with project engineers and project managers assisting them in the development of engineering designs and the oversight of construction for municipal infrastructure projects. Work includes office and field tasks, developing plans, specifications and estimates, materials measurement and communicating with clients, contractors and office staff.

• Create detailed dimensional drawings, design layouts, base maps, 3D models and details for civil engineering projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D software.
• Assist in the production of civil engineering plan sets.
• Calculated dimensions, and material quantities.
• Collect, analyze and reduce field information, review design documents, read and use topography maps, graphs and diagrams to provide data for engineering designs.
• Develop and review project cost estimates.
• Prepare technical reports and document project activities.
• Assist with the inspection of project construction and evaluate conformance with design drawings and specifications.
• Plan and conduct field surveys to review and analyze details of project sites.

• Completion of 2 years of technical school with a major in Engineering Technology or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years’ experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Exhibits a Mastery of AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Completes Complex Grading
• Creates Complex Corridors
• Helps Set Up SSA Models
• Provides Basic Design Assistance
• Mentors & Trains Entry and Mid-Level CAD Staff
• Shares Knowledge with Engineering Staff
• All candidates are subject to satisfactory background check prior to employment

• Overtime and work outside of the normal business day may be required to meet project deadlines
• Travel to and from project construction sites as assigned.
• Sitting for extended periods of time indoors as well as working outdoors in inclement weather
• Lifting 50 pounds
• Working in a multi-level office building with stairs
