Recycle Center Forklift Operator

Location: Lynden, WA

Role: As a member of the Recycle Center, this position is responsible for efficiently transporting, sorting, and processing rejected materials to meet the growing demands of our customers. This role involves working outdoors year-round, operating forklifts, conveyors, grinders and actively assisting with other Recycle Center operations.

Location: Victory Millwork is located at 2077 Main Street, Lynden WA 98264

Hours: Full-Time, 5:30am-4:30pm, M-F. Occasional Saturday.

Wage: $20.50-$22.50 DOE

• Prioritize the safe operation of the forklift, ensuring the well-being of yourself and fellow team members.
• Transport rejected or waste material to and from the Recycle Center.
• Monitor staging areas and bin levels to help ensure continuous operation of work centers.
• Empty and return bins throughout the day to keep up with production demands.
• Sort and process rejected materials in accordance with Recycle Center guidelines.
• Load pallets, door skins and other materials onto trailers in a safe manner.
• Report mechanical issues with forklifts, conveyors, or grinders to your supervisor immediately.
• Ability to learn and operate various forklifts as needed (counterbalance, telehandler, etc.).
• Ensure a clean and organized work environment by regularly maintaining the recycle center and surrounding areas.

  Supports and adheres to safety and quality standards and procedures (JHA's/SOP's). Works towards safety improvements.

  Reliable and shows up to work on time every day. Sets the example for the team. Flexible to work hours needed.

  Frequent communication and support with Supervisor. Able to execute a clear and specific work plan. Can express ideas and process improvements verbally and with documentation.

  Maintains effective relationships with team and other departments. Ability and willingness to stop process to take corrective action when required. Works to achieve department's goals within the team.
• Work Quality:
  Exceeds quality standards while completing work in a thorough and accurate manner. Able to take on more complex projects. Sets an example for others. Expert knowledge in work area to drive quality outcomes.
• Productivity/Initiative:
  Participates in departmental process improvement. Leads small initiatives. Effective, high-volume producer. Consistently meets or exceeds work deadlines. Seeks new assignments. Self-starter who can work without supervision.

• Positive attitude, servant's heart, flexible and adaptable.
• Previous sit-down counterbalance forklift experience (propane and electric).
• Previous telehandler experience preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of and experience with general production safety requirements, procedures, and protection equipment.
• Capable of bending, stooping, kneeling, walking, and lifting 50+ lbs.
• Ability to work well with employees with varying skill sets.
• Self-starter and works well independently.

Reporting to: Position reports directly to work area Supervisor.
