Position Summary
The Philanthropy Manager advances The J’s fundraising efforts by implementing strategies that strengthen donor relationships, expand the giving pipeline, and support long-term sustainability. Working in partnership with the Executive Director, consultants, board, and staff, this position plays akey role in fostering a culture of philanthropy and ensuring fundraising efforts align with organizational
priorities.
- Carry out fundraising strategies developed with the Executive Director and consultant.
- Track annual fundraising goals and prepare progress updates for leadership and the board.
- Ensure accurate donor records and reporting in the CRM to guide strategy and stewardship.
- Build and maintain relationships with individual donors, with emphasis on expanding mid-level and major gifts.
- Support planned giving efforts by engaging prospects and providing information on giving options.
- Manage donor recognition activities, including acknowledgments, events, and impact reports.
Cultivate and steward relationships with businesses and foundations to secure sponsor ships and grants.
Coordinate with the contracted grant writer to manage application and reporting deadlines.
Events & Community EngagementCollaborate with staff and board to plan and deliver fundraising and cultivation events.
Represent The J at community and networking events to build visibility and connections.
Board & Volunteer EngagementPartner with the Donor Engagement Committee to support board members in donor outreach.
Provide tools and encouragement for board and volunteers engaged in cultivation.
Qualifications & Experience- 3–5 years of professional fundraising experience, with demonstrated success in donor cultivation, annual giving, and relationship management.
- Experience supporting or managing major gift and planned giving efforts is preferred, but not required.
- Familiarity with corporate sponsor ships and foundation fundraising, including coordination of grant applications and reporting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling donor materials and correspondence.
- Proficiency in donor management software (e.g., NeonCRM, Raiser’s Edge, or equivalent), with attention to data accuracy and reporting.
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities, events, and deadlines.
- Collaborative team member who can work effectively with staff, board, volunteers, and external partners.
- Commitment to The J’s mission and enthusiasm for the role of the arts in community life.
- Experience working in rural or small-community settings is a plus.
