About the Role

The Director of Engineering – Water/Wastewater will provide technical leadership, project oversight, and strategic direction for the planning, design, and delivery of municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects. This role requires strong engineering expertise, client management skills, and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams while ensuring regulatory compliance and successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical expertise in water/wastewater systems, treatment processes, and related infrastructure equipment.
  • Lead hydraulic calculations, system modeling, and engineering analysis for potable water, sanitary sewer, and stormwater infrastructure projects.
  • Support multidisciplinary teams by providing engineering guidance and coordination across departments.
  • Prepare clear, concise proposals for new business opportunities and oversee the development of all associated project deliverables.
  • Manage and supervise the preparation of engineering reports, specifications, drawings, and contract documents.
  • Oversee permitting efforts and ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Mentor, train, and support the professional development of junior engineering staff.
  • Maintain strong communication with clients, stakeholders, and project teams while serving as a primary point of contact.
  • Foster and maintain long‑term client relationships through responsive service and effective project management.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, technical writing, and project management skills.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering discipline required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Proven experience in water/wastewater engineering, infrastructure planning, and project management.
  • Strong understanding of hydraulic modeling software, regulatory compliance, and municipal utility systems.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and client relationship management skills.
Compensation

The annual base salary range for this full-time position is $145,000 – $205,000. This range represents a good faith estimate based on the role and level. Individual compensation within this range will be determined by job‑related factors including skills, experience, education, and training.
