Summary

The Quality Control Manager leads and oversees all quality control operations for finished goods, components, repairs, and returned merchandise to ensure products meet company standards and craftsmanship expectations. This role manages inspection teams, quality processes, vendor performance, and product validation programs while partnering with manufacturing vendors and distribution operations to drive continuous improvement. The manager leverages quality data and reporting to reduce defects, improve throughput, and maintain compliance with established quality standards.

Responsibilities
  • Lead quality control operations for finished goods, components, polishing, repairs, and returns inspection.
  • Develop and maintain inspection standards, procedures, training materials, and quality tools.
  • Manage, coach, and develop Quality Control Inspectors, polishing personnel, returns inspection teams, and quality data staff.
  • Oversee staffing, workload prioritization, sampling plans, defect tracking, and vendor scorecards.
  • Manage statistical audits, assay testing, gemstone verification, and product validation programs.
  • Maintain quality reporting, dashboards, KPIs, and present quality performance summaries to leadership.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives to reduce defects, improve throughput, and support scalability.
Requirements
  • Minimum seven years of experience in a quality role within a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • At least four years of experience building, training, and managing a team.
  • Knowledge of jewelry construction, gemstones, diamonds, silver and gold; GIA certification preferred.
  • Strong communication skills to work with a global manufacturing base and cross functional stakeholders.
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and basic computer skills.
  • College degree preferred but not required; some travel possible.
