Automotive Mechanics

Overview

Automotive Mechanics are trusted to inspect, diagnose, and perform a variety of automotive services on customers' vehicles. Responsibilities include undercar repairs such as brakes, struts, and shocks, completing state-mandated inspections, changing oil and filters, checking fluids, replacing worn parts, and dismounting, mounting, rotating, and balancing tires.

• Inspect and diagnose vehicle conditions.
• Perform undercar repairs such as brakes, struts, and shocks.
• Complete state‑mandated inspections.
• Change oil and filters, check fluids.
• Replace worn parts.
• Dismount, mount, rotate, and balance tires.
• Stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, pull, reach, and perform repetitive movements consistent with vehicle maintenance and repair.
• Regularly lift or move items weighing over 50 pounds.

Required qualifications:

• At least 18 years of age.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• At least 2 years of experience or training in automotive repair and maintenance, or equivalent education, training, and experience.
• Extensive personal tool kit for undercar repairs.

Preferred qualifications:

• State inspection license(s).
• ASE Certifications in Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair (G1), Suspension and Steering (A4), and Brakes (A5).
