Elementary Teacher
- Grade 5 Long-term Substitute

Lynn is a seaside urban community located just north of Boston. The city has a diverse linguistic and cultural population, with 60% of our students speaking two or more languages. Lynn Public Schools serves approximately 17,000 students across 29 school sites. The district includes: 1 Early Childhood Center, 17 Elementary Schools, 1 Public Separate Day School, 3 Middle Schools, 2 Comprehensive High Schools, 1 Vocational High School, 1 Early College High School, 1 STEAM Academy (Grades 6-12), 1 Alternative Education Academy (Grades 9-12), and 1 TOGETHER Educating and Advancing Multi-Disabled Students Academy (PreK-12).

• Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary license in the specific subject area(s):
  Elementary Grades 1-6
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university;
  Master’s Degree preferred
• SEI Endorsement
• Knowledge of current education legislation/regulations
• Ability to work effectively with teachers, support staff, and parents and advocate for children
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and ability to work with all stakeholders
• Urban experience preferred
• Ability to meet the Massachusetts Standards and Indicators of Effective Teaching Practice

• Establish and maintain a safe, nurturing and engaging learning environment with standards of student behavior
• Regularly engage with families and community members to support collaborative learning and equity
• Plan, develop and implement standards-based lessons aligned with the curriculum and state core standards
• Provide appropriate learning experiences for students from diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds
• Design and deliver differentiated instruction (modify, scaffold, etc. for SPED and EL)
• Use formal and informal assessments to measure and document student progress and guide instruction
• Evaluate and document academic and social growth of students
• Employ a variety of instructional methods including demonstrations, discussions, and lectures
• Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse backgrounds of students served
• Maintain open communication with parents/guardians/caregivers regarding student progress
• Collaborate with grade-level teams and school faculty on lesson planning and instructional strategies
