Position: Elementary School: Lead Teacher of Coverage - Greater Boston (2026-2027)

Lead Teacher (Coverage) – KIPP Academy Lynn Charter School

Job Summary:

We are seeking culturally competent lead teachers committed to amplifying student potential through joyful, excellent, and inclusive classroom experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Classroom Responsibilities
    • For secondary grades: oversee and independently lead up to 60 students on asynchronous assignments; maintain school‑wide systems for absent work (Google Classroom, Power School, Deanslist).
    • For all grades: may lead a class independently, co‑teach, provide short‑ or long‑term coverage, or step into a lead classroom role later in the year; collaborate with classroom teachers before and after absences; maintain communication with school leadership; affirm, value, and challenge all students daily; foster a positive and safe learning environment; create academically aligned lesson plans, unit plans, rubrics, and assessments as needed;

      innovate best practices for differentiated instruction; implement school‑wide or grade‑level student culture systems and proactive classroom management strategies; when providing long‑term coverage, analyze student work and data to modify lessons, maintain accurate records and communicate with families about growth and progress; prepare rigorous unit and daily lessons using curriculum resources.
  • School and Professional Responsibilities
    • Obtain required MTEL and SEI endorsements within first year, with KIPP MA financial support.
    • Participate in school‑wide and individual professional development (pre‑service summer training and weekly academic‑year sessions).
    • Own craft development, seek feedback from coach, collaborate with teammates.
    • Perform assigned duties (classroom coverage, bus, lunch, transition, dismissal).
    • Develop strong relationships with families through events and consistent communication.
    • Offer and receive constructive feedback to promote a professional working atmosphere.
    • Collaborate with grade‑level and content teams on common challenges and grade‑wide systems.
    • Maintain dependable attendance; communicate proactively when attendance barriers arise.
  • General Requirements and Responsibilities
    • Embodies KIPP MA’s Code of Conduct.
    • Engage in regional professional development and community events as required.
    • Demonstrated data‑analysis and decision‑making skills.
    • Self‑awareness, flexibility, and emotional intelligence.
    • Use interpersonal and self‑management skills to support behavioral and emotional needs.
    • Effective communication skills (written, oral, virtual).
    • Physical mobility to perform duties (kneeling, walking, pushing, squatting, twisting, etc.).
    • Physical strength to lift or restrain students in emergencies.
    • Manual dexterity for computer and office equipment operations.
Qualifications
  • Deep alignment with KIPP MA’s mission and values.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive student growth and create a warm, inclusive, rigorous learning environment.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite (Classroom, Gmail, Drive).
  • Passion for subject/content area and professional learning commitment.
  • 2+ years of full‑time teaching experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Pass Criminal Background Check.
Benefits

Base salary $55,000–$89,500 (per 1.0 FTE); signing bonus $1,000; annual retention bonus $2,000; other bonuses when eligible. Role includes 45‑hour school year calendar.
