The Lynn Public Schools Music Department seeks an enthusiastic and committed Music Teacher for Classical High School. This individual will oversee the Band Ensemble program, comprising established Concert Band and new Modern Band courses. Additionally, they will lead various General Music classes such as Piano, Music Theory, Music Technology, and Developing Musicianship, alongside a veteran Chorus Teacher who will also teach some General Music courses.
The ideal candidate should possess experience in guiding secondary Band Ensembles, adeptness in lesson planning and assessment, and the ability to utilize data for instructional purposes. Providing students with consistent feedback on their progress toward learning objectives is essential. Familiarity with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and their progression is crucial for designing standards-based lessons. Detailed job specifics, including class organization, will be communicated by the music supervisor and principal.
Qualifications- Hold a valid license from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Music:
Vocal/Instrumental/General – All Levels. - Bachelor's degree
- SEI Endorsement as needed
- Urban experience preferred
- Planning and implementing standards-based General Music lessons with clear objectives
- Providing appropriate and effective learning experiences for students from a wide range of socio-economic levels and cultural backgrounds
- Designing and demonstrating differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students. (Modify, scaffold, etc. for Special Education and English Learner Education)
- Using a variety of formal and informal assessments to accurately measure student progress toward mastery of grade-level standards and to modify further instruction.
- Providing a motivating and stimulating, safe and supportive learning environment
- Dedication to recruiting choral members
- Adapting Music lessons for individual, small group, and remedial instruction to meet the needs of identified students or subgroups of students
- Developing and maintaining pupil-teacher relationships conducive to effective teaching and learning
- Maintaining a growth mindset
- Establishing and maintaining standards of student behavior
- Participating in school-wide and department-wide professional development activities
