Position: Elementary School: Special Education, Aide - Greater Boston (2026-2027)

Aide at KIPP Academy Lynn Charter School

KIPP Academy Lynn Charter School is looking for committed, compassionate, and culturally competent aides who can amplify our children’s potential by contributing to a school experience that affirms, values, and challenges students each day. Aides work with students who require additional support to be successful in the classroom. The aide collaborates with teachers, school leaders, students, and families to meet student needs, ensuring social and academic growth.

Key Responsibilities

Classroom Responsibilities

  • Guide and assist individual students (1:1 support) and/or groups with the attention needed separately from the general class.
  • Under the direction of the Lead Teacher and/or Supervisor, supplement classroom instruction to maximize learning opportunities for students on a caseload. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Assist teachers in creating curriculum modifications for specific students.
    • Support Lead Teachers, Residents, and Fellows by carrying out lesson plans and assisting with learning materials.
    • Provide testing accommodations, including supervising students completing tests in a separate location or during extended time.
    • Review and correct student work assignments.
    • Assist in implementing behavioral intervention plans using positive reinforcement and behavior modification strategies.
    • Help students develop self‑advocacy skills in the classroom.
    • Facilitate and support social interactions and foster positive relationships between caseload students, peers, and teachers.
    • Assess progress, communicate results, and use data to inform decisions and set goals.
  • May physically assist with students’ physical needs as required.

School and Professional Responsibilities

  • Obtain required Aide certification within one year of hire (Associate’s degree, 48 college credit hours, or a Para Pro Assessment score of 464).
  • Provide aide coverage and support to other classrooms and grade levels as needed.
  • Be available for extended workday as needed to support colleagues, students, and families outside of school hours.
  • Perform support duties such as coverage, bus, lunch, and dismissal activities.
  • Collaborate with grade‑level teams to provide support, guidance, and advocacy for students on the caseload.
  • Maintain dependable attendance according to the school calendar.

Regional Responsibilities

  • Embody KIPP MA’s Code of Conduct and act with integrity and humanity.
  • Participate in regional professional development and community events as required.
  • Demonstrate data collection, interpretation, evaluation, and decision‑making skills.
  • Exercise self‑awareness, flexibility, and emotional intelligence to manage diverse student needs.
  • Use interpersonal and self‑management skills to support behavioral and emotional needs, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Communicate effectively in person, written, and virtual settings.
  • Maintain physical mobility and strength to perform job duties safely.
  • Utilize manual dexterity for repetitive motions and operate a computer and office equipment.
Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to drive student growth and achievement; prefer warm, inclusive, rigorous learning environments.
  • Associate’s degree, 48 college credit hours, or pass Para Pro assessment (score ≥ 464) within one year of hire.
  • Preferred:
    Experience or training in physical/tactical restraint procedures.
  • Preferred:
    Experience or training in ABA techniques for student support.
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with Google Suite.
  • Pass Criminal Background Checks.
What We Offer

The minimum base salary for this exempt position is $37,000 to $50,000 (per 1.0 FTE/45 hours per week). The role includes a $1,000 signing bonus and an annual $2,000 retention bonus in subsequent years.
