Physics Lead Teacher – KIPP Academy Lynn Charter School (KIPP MA).

Location:

Lynn, MA | Full-Time | High School | Salary: $55,000–$89,500 + Signing & Retention Bonuses

KIPP Academy Lynn is seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and equity-driven Physics Lead Teacher to join our high school science team. This role is ideal for an educator who wants to inspire students to think critically, question boldly, and engage deeply with the world through the lens of physics.

You’ll join a collaborative school community that prioritizes academic excellence, student agency, and culturally responsive teaching—while preparing students for success in college, career, and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

Instructional Excellence
  • Lead rigorous and engaging high school physics instruction, rooted in real‑world application and aligned with NGSS and Massachusetts frameworks
  • Prepare daily and unit lesson plans that center student thinking, problem‑solving, and inquiry‑based learning
  • Use provided curriculum and internalize resources to ensure content mastery, pacing, and rigor
  • Develop and/or adapt lab activities, assessments, rubrics, and project‑based learning opportunities
  • Differentiate instruction for a wide range of learners, including English Language Learners and students with IEPs
  • Set ambitious academic growth goals for students and use data regularly to monitor progress and inform instruction
  • Build a learning environment that affirms students’ identities, encourages curiosity, and fosters scientific thinking
Classroom & School Culture
  • Uphold strong classroom management through consistent routines, relationship‑building, and culturally relevant practices
  • Collaborate with grade‑level and science content teams to align instruction and share strategies
  • Implement school‑wide systems that support student safety, joy, and academic excellence
  • Communicate proactively with students, families, and colleagues to support whole‑child development
Professional Development & Team Collaboration
  • Attend and participate in summer training, weekly professional development, and instructional coaching sessions
  • Seek and apply feedback to continuously improve instructional practice
  • Support school duties including transitions, arrival/dismissal, lunch, and coverage as needed
  • Build authentic relationships with families and regularly communicate about student progress
Qualifications
  • Deep belief in the potential of all students and alignment with KIPP’s mission
  • Bachelor’s degree in physics, physical sciences, science education, or a related field required
  • 2+ years of full‑time science teaching experience (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of physics content and instructional best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to drive student achievement and academic growth
  • Culturally responsive and equity‑focused approach to teaching
  • MA teaching license preferred or willingness to pursue MTEL and SEI endorsement (with full support from KIPP MA)
  • Must pass criminal background checks
Workplace Expectations

  • Physical mobility to teach effectively (includes moving around classroom, occasional lifting, lab prep)
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to build community and engage families
Compensation & Benefits
  • Base salary: $55,000–$89,500 depending on experience and education
  • $1,000 signing bonus
  • $2,000 annual retention bonus (after year one)
  • Additional pay for advanced degrees: +$3,000 (first), +$1,500 (second)
