Job Details

To assist the teacher in achieving teaching objectives by working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve the skill levels of the class as a whole.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
  • Assist the teacher in devising strategies for reinforcing material or skills.
  • Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work as assigned by the teacher.
  • Check notebooks, correct papers, and supervise testing and makeup work as assigned by the teacher.
  • Assist with large group activities such as reading aloud and storytelling.
  • Alert the regular teacher to any program or information about an individual student; communicate concerns to the classroom teacher.
  • Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as expected of a licensed professional.

Reports To: Principal and Classroom Teacher

Terms of Employment
  • As negotiated with Lynn School Committee and Lynn Teachers Union/Paraprofessionals Unit
  • 180 days per year

Starting Salary: $24.89 per hour

Salary: Will be adjusted pending verification of additional college credits.

An offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment physical, including a drug test, National fingerprint-based Criminal Background Check (NCBC), and Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI). All must be completed PRIOR to the start of employment.
