Substation Commissioning Manager of Renewable Energy.

This is a 1-year contract assignment. (W-2) To work on behalf of the project owner as a Commissioning Manager on a portfolio of renewable energy (wind, solar, battery storage). You will be responsible for execution of assigned renewable power plant projects and teams as it relates to commissioning, start‑up and operational turnover.

Your Day-to-Day:

Ensure that assigned projects’ commissioning activities are performed with high quality and follow all safety policies.
Coordinate and manage EPC contractor personnel, OEM start‑up personnel, third‑party start‑up contractors, and operations personnel on site, as it relates to site commissioning and startup.
Manage project reliability at operational turnover with plants exhibiting minimal lost time during initial operation.
Ensure compliance with all contractual documents, including the Power Purchase Agreement and Large Generator Interconnect Agreement deliverables with the local utility.
Interface with Transmission Operators and Independent Service Operators to meet energization dates.
Manage client’s onsite commissioning personnel.
Collaborate with designated safety, engineering, and quality control parties.

Who You Are:

Knowledge of electrical construction and commissioning means and methods, including NEC and NFPA.
Experience with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) integration and troubleshooting.
Experience installing, starting up, and troubleshooting E&I controls and instrumentation.
Experience implementing and troubleshooting protection and control systems.
Experience performing design reviews, quality control inspections, and progress reporting.
Experience managing third parties and suppliers.
Experience managing a direct report team.
Understanding of scheduling and planning.

Preferred Background:

15+ years of on‑site project support for renewable power generation project construction, start‑up, and commissioning.
Minimum 3 years experience working for an EPC in renewable power generation.
Track record of working with engineering personnel on technical issues.
Experience working with construction personnel on constructability, schedule, and cost issues.
