The Role

Pipeline Engineer

Salt Lake City, UT – 12 Months

Pipelines Engineer is responsible for the design of high‑pressure steel natural gas pipelines for the Feeder‑Line Replacement program, ensuring all analysis, installation, commissioning, operability, and integrity regulatory requirements and company standards are met or exceeded, including Code of Federal Regulations Part 192.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical and design support for pipeline routing and layout.
  • Determine block and tap valve placement and design pipeline crossings for rivers, interstates, and highways using open‑dig or trenchless construction methods.
  • Apply knowledge of industry codes, standards, and best practices to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Perform engineering analyses of pipeline stress, considering internal pressure, external loads, thermal expansion, soil loads, seismic effects, and other factors.
  • Specify pipe materials and coatings, procure materials, and prepare and submit engineering documentation (calculations, forms, checklists).
  • Track project schedules, monitor budgets, and develop pressure test procedures to support commissioning activities.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including design drafting, right‑of‑way agents, cathodic protection engineers, and environmental specialists.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or civil engineering from an accredited college.
  • 4–7 years of relevant experience in high‑pressure steel pipeline design and construction.
  • Foundational understanding of high‑pressure steel pipeline materials and construction practices.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, communication tools, and engineering analysis software.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

The base salary range for this position is estimated to be $50.00 – $65.00 per hour, dependent upon experience, qualifications, and skills.
