Mechanical Engineer, Robotics, Automation & Mechatronics Engineer, Systems Engineer
Massachusetts (Flexible on-site & hybrid)
$160k-$220k + Equity on offer
I am hiring for a Principal Mechanical Engineer on behalf of a well-funded robotics company developing a first-of-its-kind automotive automation platform. They're tackling a highly manual process that has remained largely unchanged for decades, combining precision mechanics, advanced motion systems, and intelligent automation to transform the way critical industrial operations are performed.
What's in it for you?- Join a well-funded, fast-growing robotics company with significant autonomy, technical influence, and a competitive compensation up to $220k + Equity package with flexible Massachusetts-based working.
- Solve complex first-principles engineering challenges across precision mechanics, multi-axis motion, and intelligent automation within a highly collaborative multidisciplinary team.
- Take ownership of the mechanical design of a next-generation robotics platform, from concept through production.
- 10+ years' experience designing complex electro-mechanical or mechatronic systems from concept through production as Senior/Principal Mechanical Engineer
- Extensive experience designing and specifying actuator-driven systems, motors, gear trains, encoders, load cells, proximity sensors, and other motion control components
- Strong mechanical analysis and design expertise across system dynamics, modelling, vibration analysis, kinematics, static/dynamic load calculations, Solid Works, GD&T (ASME Y14.5), tolerance analysis, FEA, and production-ready engineering documentation.
As a Principal Mechanical Engineer, you'll own the design of complex robotic subsystems, including mechanical architecture, multi-axis actuation, and dynamic mechanisms. You'll solve challenging mechanical problems through simulation, testing, and prototyping while helping set engineering standards and guide the wider mechanical team.
Just as important as your technical background is your mindset. This is a true start-up environment, as a Principal Mechanical Engineer you'll have significant autonomy to solve complex problems, make technical decisions, and shape the future of a category-defining robotics product alongside a multidisciplinary engineering team.
Desirable Qualifications- MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or a related discipline
- Industrial robotics, automation, or industrial tooling design experience
- Experience developing system models, free body diagrams, governing equations, and kinematic analyses
- Experience working with industrial control systems as well as developing engineering documentation processes including BOMs, CAD vaults, and part numbering systems
This is an opportunity for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join an exceptional engineering team at an exciting stage of growth, with significant ownership over the mechanical design and development of a next-generation robotic platform that will redefine how automotive servicing is performed.
