As Senior Manufacturing Manager – Assembly and Test Operation Management, you will provide strategic oversight for a high‑priority engine program focused on improving execution, operational efficiency, material flow, and cross‑functional alignment. The position partners with business, engineering, quality, manufacturing, and logistics teams to close gaps between product line expectations and operational response, establish standard work, improve cycle time and throughput, and build a more scalable model for long‑term growth.
Based in Lynn, MA, the role includes regular travel to support program alignment across operations and logistics.
Job Responsibilities- Manage an operation, business, unit, or part of a production facility in order to reach defined targets in quality, cost, delivery and safety. Ensure continuous business improvement according to benchmarks and standards.
- Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
- Interpret simple internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes or services.
- Use a high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Assess quality of information and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and construct and provide recommendations.
- Lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicate difficult concepts and influence others’ options on particular topics.
- Direct and oversee all aspects of assembly and test operations, including production planning, scheduling, and execution.
- Lead and influence an indirect team of manufacturing professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and safety.
- Implement and maintain lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
- Manage operational budgets, identify cost‑saving opportunities, and ensure financial targets are met.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including engineering, supply chain, quality, and sales, to achieve business objectives.
- Develop and execute strategic plans for capacity planning, process improvement, and new product introductions.
- Ensure adherence to all company policies, procedures, and relevant industry regulations (e.g., EHS, quality standards).
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions to address deviations and drive performance.
- Identify and implement new technologies and automation solutions to improve manufacturing processes.
- Lead problem‑solving initiatives and root cause analysis for manufacturing issues.
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical), Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related technical field OR a High School Diploma with 4 years progressive experience in assembly, test, and manufacturing operations.
- Minimum of 5 years progressive experience in assembly, test, manufacturing operations.
- Ability to travel at least 30% of the time.
- Minimum of 8 years progressive experience in engine assembly and test, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within a complex manufacturing environment.
- Proven track record of driving operational excellence, implementing lean manufacturing, and achieving significant improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Strong leadership and team‑building skills, with experience in managing and developing relationships with external vendors.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
- Proficiency in manufacturing execution systems (MES) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of safety regulations and quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification highly desirable.
