Job Description Summary
The Military DoD Skill Bridge program provides an opportunity for Service members to gain civilian work experience through industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service. GE Aerospace is seeking a Digital / Electro‑Mechanical Technician for the Lynn Test Systems Engineering Team. The Technician will be responsible for detailed application, routing, terminations, and quality checks of test instrumentation needed to validate the mechanical design and performance of development test engines.
The work is 100% on site.
- Apply specialized test instrumentation including strain gages, accelerometers, magnetic pick‑ups, optical tip timing probes, and capacitance probes.
- Route specialized test sensors at component‑level and throughout assembly for development test turbo‑shaft and turbo‑fan engines.
- Terminate test instrumentation wire at component and module levels during assembly and within the test facility during engine setup.
- Perform end‑to‑end signal quality checks of test instrumentation at various stages.
- Use glues, epoxies, heat guns, spot weld, soldering, microscopes, and ovens to apply and route specialized test instrumentation.
- Fabricate or assemble cables, harnesses, and set up data recording equipment for development engine testing.
- Complete terminations of instrumentation in ground‑based aircraft engine test cells, perform continuity checks and set up high‑speed data recording equipment.
- Support maintenance initiatives for lab equipment used for instrumentation applications.
- Perform basic electro‑mechanical mathematical function conversions and apply Ohm’s Law principles.
- Remain compliant with Engine Assembly Quality initiatives and Environmental Health & Safety initiatives at Assembly and Test Facilities.
- Communicate any instrumentation or sensor quality issues to senior engineers and support process improvement initiatives.
- Mentor junior technicians on application, routing, termination, and sensor quality check processes.
- Active military personnel in the last 180 days before separation.
- Associate degree in an applicable technical discipline from an accredited school or a high school diploma/GED with at least two years of work experience in a manufacturing or testing environment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.

- Demonstrated aptitude for continuous learning.
- A/P license.
