ABOUT
THE ROLE
The VP, Philanthropy leads the Housing Partnership Network’s (HPN’s) efforts to raise philanthropic revenue from leading national foundations, financial institutions, family offices and philanthropic individuals as well as increase visibility among key stakeholders to support HPN’s core services, social innovation, enterprise development, and programmatic initiatives. The position works across the HPN platform to raise funds and awareness to support the organization’s mission driven initiatives, social enterprises, and operations.
Philanthropic resources are sometimes used in conjunction with social impact capital to leverage investment in HPN’s social enterprises, and, therefore, a collaborative mindset is critical. The position manages all HPN’s ongoing funder relationships, leads philanthropic strategy, and oversees all funder reporting. The VP, Philanthropy reports to the EVP, Chief of Staff and oversees two direct reports while building and leading a growing team.
- Work with the CEO and EVP Chief of Staff to devise and implement strategies to deepen, manage and develop relationships with philanthropically motivated funders.
Oversee, manage and coach a team of fundraising and development professionals to execute and deliver on HPN’s philanthropic strategy and achieve the organization’s fundraising goals. - In collaboration with subject matter experts and program leaders, develop and execute a plan to achieve HPN’s private fundraising goals and raise specialized resources for HPN’s business lines, peer exchange, R&D activities, and select social enterprises, including Housing Partnership Fund, an affiliate Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI).
- Lead development and oversee implementation of customized strategies for outreach, diversification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of all prospects and donors.
- Ensure that there is a robust pipeline of new prospects for support through research, engagement with the HPN members, staff leadership/content experts, industry events, associations and work with consultants.
- Ensure strategic fundraising alignment and oversee success execution all aspects of fundraising operations including the use of the Salesforce database for prospect and donor research and tracking, proposal and report development and submission, the coordination of acknowledgements, and other follow-up/stewardship activities.
- Responsible for meeting, managing, and monitoring HPN annual fundraising goals, working in partnership with fundraising stakeholders including the EVPs for Network Engagement & Housing Solutions and Capital Markets, and the HPN Finance team.
- Bachelor’s degree and 6 or more years of prior fundraising and project management experience in a high-capacity, philanthropic organization with a proven track record of success raising over $6M annually
-such as a regional or national nonprofit, financial or community development institution, or foundation. - Demonstrated experience leading and evaluating a fundraising function that includes strategy, institutional development, proposal development, donor relationship management, and grant reporting.
- Strong verbal communications and excellent writing skills with an ability to craft and supervise development of high-quality proposals, reports, donor correspondence, and other materials that support fundraising.
- Experience preferred with raising capital to support business lines or new product development, and demonstrated success working with family offices, foundations and financial institutions.
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills to develop strong and productive relationships with donors, the HPN executive team, staff, and board members, at the senior level of each.
- Exceptional organizational skills and an ability to juggle multiple priorities.
- Management experience and desire to lead a growing Philanthropy team, willingness to coach fundraising best practices and model collaborative behaviors across internal teams.
