Dually reporting to the Collaborating Physician and the Administrative Director, the licensed and credentialed Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides diagnosis, treatment, consultation, and follow-up under the direction of one or more physicians in the clinic or inpatient setting. The NP performs age and specialty appropriate physical examinations and preventive health measures within prescribed guidelines. As an expert professional, the Nurse Practitioner is responsible and accountable for the application of the nursing process, supervision of clinical practice, research involvement, consultative services, inter and intradepartmental liaison, education, leadership and patient care management across the health care continuum from preventative, acute care through discharge.

Will help support the oversight of students.

The APP will work collaboratively with vascular surgeons, physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary specialists to provide comprehensive care for patients with a wide range of vascular conditions in the outpatient settings.

Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with arterial, venous, and lymphatic disease
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with vascular surgeons
  • Manage pre-operative and post-operative patients
  • Provide patient education regarding disease management, wound care, medications, and lifestyle modifications
  • Coordinate care with primary care providers, specialists, nursing staff, rehabilitation, and case management
  • Document clinical encounters accurately within the electronic medical record
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental meetings
  • Support research and educational activities as appropriate
Qualifications

Required

  • Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • Current Massachusetts NP or PA license (or eligibility)
  • DEA registration (or eligibility)
  • BLS certification
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team

Preferred

  • Experience in vascular surgery, general surgery, cardiovascular surgery, or critical care
  • Experience assisting in the operating room
  • ACLS certification
  • Experience with Epic electronic medical record
