To support the growth and success of the RISE team and technology, we are looking for a talented Associate Embedded Software Engineer for our robotic motion control systems. In your role, you'll play a pivotal role in the development and enhancement of the software that powers our state‑of‑the‑art lifting solutions. You'll collaborate with cross‑functional teams, contribute to the design and implementation of critical software components, and ensure the reliability and performance of our systems.
This position is a hybrid role with 2-3 days/week in Somerville, MA, and will report to the Director of Embedded Systems.

In This Role You Will- Design, develop, and maintain embedded software for our robotic lift systems, ensuring performance, reliability, and safety.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate software with the RISE platform's electrical and mechanical components.
- Create and optimize control algorithms for precise and efficient robotic lifting operations.
- Develop and implement software for real‑time control, feedback systems, and sensor integration.
- Conduct thorough testing of software to identify and resolve issues, ensuring reliable and robust operation.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for software design, development, and testing processes.
- Work closely with cross‑functional teams, including mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and application specialists, to achieve project goals.
- Minimum 1 year developing C/C++ applications and platforms for embedded systems.
- Minimum 1 year developing tools and infrastructure using Python.
- Demonstrable numerical analysis skills and techniques.
- Ability to operate independently, producing robust and documented software modules.
- Experience using common embedded communications interfaces: CAN, SPI, I2C, UART.
- Ability to read and understand complex technical literature such as datasheets, schematics, production process diagrams.
- Must have a degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
- U.S. citizenship is NOT required for this position, but you must have permission to work in the U.S. (e.g. F1‑OPT visa).
- H1B sponsorship is not offered at this time.
- Familiarity with concepts related to control systems, physics, kinematics and motion planning.
- Experience developing IoT communications systems using common services such as MQTT on Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, and cellular communications.
- Familiar with modern microcontroller systems, at least ARM and one more family such as MIPS or PowerPC.
- Experience with CAN protocols such as J1939 or CANO
pen. - Experience with ISO 26262, IEC 61508, DO‑178C, or other software safety standards.
- A passion for bringing your software to life on large‑scale motion systems.
