Job Overview
Position:
Project Engineering Support – Hardware & Software Engineer (Hourly)
- Support all Project Engineering tasks.
- Provide support to Systems Engineers and System Designers in performing Hardware and Software engineering activities.
- Create, monitor, and edit engineering spreadsheets relating to hardware and software deliverables.
- Review project documentation and support engineers in deciphering data.
- Provide customers with the highest level of service to solve engineering inefficiencies and resolve related items.
- Act as a trusted advisor to customers, providing solutions and outcomes at the time of service.
- Maintain engineering spreadsheets and prepare & maintain deliverables.
- Support the creation of hardware and software submittals.
- Communicate job progress and issues to management, contractors, and customers.
- Complete administrative tasks including timesheets, expense reports, and on‑site documentation.
- Document changes and provide information for as‑built documentation.
- Follow all safety standards and attend required safety training.
- Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure engineering runs efficiently.
- Document recommendations and solutions for support purposes.
- Associate’s degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning, or a similar field.
- Four‑year vocational program or three years of industry experience, or one year of servicing electronic and/or mechanical systems in the HVAC industry.
- Knowledge of HVAC controls systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation, and servicing techniques.
- Effective interpersonal skills to represent Johnson Controls to customers and external contacts in an ethical and professional manner.
- Ability to explain technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Leadership skills to support mechanics working on non‑complex, non‑critical Building Automation equipment on a job site.
- Proficiency with PC and ability to program HVAC related software.
Hourly range: $21 – $31. This range reflects the typical compensation for this role and is based on education, experience, skills, and market data. Exceptional candidates may receive an hourly rate above this range.
