The Johnson Controls Security Sales Manager will lead the commercial security sales team in one of Johnson Controls field offices. The role builds a high‑productivity sales team that meets or exceeds revenue expectations and services both existing and potential customers. The manager drives corporate sales and marketing initiatives across assigned territories, focusing on business/customer development, territory management, data mining, professional presentation and product sales.
The position also manages channel profitability, revenue per user growth, and the retention of customers and sales representatives. The role requires a principled, strong leader.
- Model and champion Johnson Controls values, creating a safe environment for discussion and resolution of values‑related issues.
- Plan, coordinate, and implement commercial sales operations including business and customer development and territory management.
- Attain budgeted revenue expectations and assure channel profitability.
- Build and retain an effective sales team, leading, coaching, and motivating them to achieve pre‑established goals.
- Set sales territory expectations for representatives, including customer touch expectations and quota achievement.
- Direct territory activities of sales staff and measure activities to ensure marketing activities produce intended sales production.
- Implement and execute the company’s marketing strategy and business plans.
- Work with other department and business segment leaders to ensure congruence with sales operations and represent the voice of the department and the sales team.
- Collaborate with National Account Managers to secure National Account business.
- College degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field, or comparable work experience.
- Minimum 5 years of sales experience, including 3 years of field sales management experience in a B2B environment or successful management of another sales channel.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong follow‑up and organizational skills.
- Organizational agility and ability to effectively interact with both internal organization and customer organizations at senior executive and field levels.
- Functional/technical skills in leading a diverse sales organization.
- Ability to work in a matrix structure, handle conflict resolution, exercise managerial courage, and adapt to change.
- Interpersonal savvy; action‑oriented, results‑driven, and capable of managing and measuring team results.
- Financial business acumen, forecasting, and P&L experience.
- Ability to travel nights and weekends to accommodate customer agendas.
- Preferred: BA degree in Marketing; five years of security systems sales experience; two years of sales leadership experience.
Salary: $104,000 – $162,500, based on education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The role includes a competitive sales incentive plan based on volume and margin on a project, quarterly, and annual basis. Eligible for the company’s comprehensive benefits package.
