Controls Service Technician

What you will do

Perform HVAC control systems troubleshooting, installation, commissioning, and preventative maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and low voltage controls components.

• Respond to service and warranty calls using Johnson Controls configuration and commissioning tools and various hand tools including electrical testing meters and electronic testing equipment.
• Provide front‑line technical and repair support through effective communication with customers.
• Recommend system repairs or updates and assist in proposing solutions to customers.
• Maintain calendar of service activities and inform management, contractors, or customers of job progress and issues.
• Calibrate systems with basic electronic test equipment.
• Complete administrative tasks including timesheets, expense reports, and as‑built documentation.
• Engage with customers to understand their systems and needs, and communicate with them before and after visits.
• Follow all safety standards, attend required safety training, and maintain a high degree of safety for employees and subcontractors.
• Provide recommendations and quotes to ensure facilities run efficiently, including upselling opportunities.

Be a dedicated member of a North America Branch team willing to learn and be responsible for system troubleshooting, repair, and aftermarket services for this fast‑growing business.

• Use electrical and electronics troubleshooting skills.
• Load Johnson Controls field and network level controller software.
• Perform commissioning and diagnostics for controllers and end devices (sensors, actuators, etc.) and complete required documentation.
• Execute company‑sponsored and personally‑initiated training to maintain high knowledge and capability.
• Communicate with contractors or customers upon arrival and before leaving the work site.

• Installation, commissioning, prevention, and maintenance of HVAC control systems.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and electronic components.
• Provide customer support and system repair recommendations.
• Maintain accurate documentation and administrative records.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards.

• Vocational school program or associate degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning, or similar field.
• Three years of experience servicing electrical, electronic, and/or mechanical HVAC systems.
• Understanding of HVAC systems, sequence, and applications.
• Technical aptitude in mechanical and electro‑mechanical fields.
• Proficiency with hand, power tools and electrical testing equipment such as a multimeter.
• Solid knowledge of personal computers.
• Attention to detail, good communication, and listening skills.
• Hourly range $33.65–45.67 depending on qualifications.
